Many years ago, I said, "Yes", when they called and asked me to fill out the survey.  The next time, I told them, "No".  They still sent me the envelope with the forms and the money.  I tossed the paperwork and kept the cash.  Having caller ID, I never answer if I don't know who is calling, so I never talk with the Neilson people.  Still, they call and never leave messages.  They send me the packets and I toss everything except the cash.  Sometimes, I see unopened Neilson envelopes in the trash at the post office and have think that the post master has alot of crisp $1 bills at the end of the day!
Report by rained out Long ago Unknown
There is an option at the very beginning when you answer that is 1 for English and 2 for Spanish. Perhaps you accidentally hit "2". That is not their problem.
Report by Riley Long ago Unknown
They just called and immediately started speaking in Spanish. English is still our Language isn't it. That made me very angry.

I did answer a call from Nielsen Ratings about 3 years ago and told them then that I've not watched TV in over 10 years and still don't......so why am I constantly being called?!  Do they really think that if I've not watched TV in over 10 years I'm going to suddenly go back to doing so?  NOT!

Just to say, voting for the President isn't really a privilege. Not anymore and few people do that in comparison to the number of people able to in this country. People are going to complain no matter what. Seems like a lot of people here would rather not get the money because it takes a few min. of their time. They just want to complain about the hassle. Most people have caller id so they aren't answering anyway and yet they complain. I'm just like, REALLY??
Report by Nora Long ago Unknown
I agree it's very reputable. They called me a few weeks ago asking if I would participate in a week long tv diary survey and last week we got it in the mail along with $30 as a thank you for participating. This week I have just been writing down all the programs I watch and what channels in the little diary and at the end of the week I send it back to them. No hassle for me or anything. I don't get why people are getting so angry about them calling, I was pretty excited to get to be a part of the Nielson Raitings..

I don't mind if they call and ask occasionally, however you're incorrect about them only calling if you have previously given the number out or done surveys. The number they call is our house phone. We NEVER use it and have never, ever given it out for anything or to anyone. It's basically a backup phone just in case. They really do choose completely random numbers, because we've also never done a survey for them before.

I could not agree more.  It is totally annoying to receive what so many calls a week and almost always no one on the call - just some robo dialer to see if you are home perhaps.  I have asked them a zillion times to stop calling.
Report by Terry Long ago Unknown
I've received at least a dozen calls in a week at all hours of the day and night - even one on a Sunday and only once did they actually leave a message that started out with "I'm not trying to sell anything."  I'm also on the Do Not Call list and have an unpublished number, so I never pick up a call that shows "unknown caller" in the Caller ID......only once did this number show up as being Nielsen.  My point is:  If I don't answer the phone after the first few attempts - move on and stop calling me!  Enough is enough!

They don't care how much you watch television.  They try to get an overall sampling.  I have done many tv diaries over the years for them and there is nothing burdensome to anyone, there is no cost to anyone, they have always been extremely professional and they pay you to do it.
Report by Informed Long ago Unknown
Surveys are not covered under the Do Not Call list. Anyone conducting a survey can call you regardless of your registry. However, if they call you under the guise of a survey and then try to sell you something (not something the true Nielsen rating would do and not something I am saying this call does) then they need to be reported.

If it makes you so mad that they call it literally takes about 2 seconds to hit ignore on your phone. If you answer it takes maybe 3 to hang up once you know who they are. Seriously, what is the big deal about getting a phone call. I'd hate to see you get a wrong number call.

Surveys are not covered under the Do Not Call list. Anyone conducting a survey can call you regardless of your registry.

There is an option at the very beginning when you answer that is 1 for English and 2 for Spanish. Perhaps you accidentally hit "2". That is not their problem.

YOU ALL SHOULD FEEL LUCKY THEY ASKED YOUR OPINION.  Only a selected few are ask to give an opinion on what's on TV,   AND GET TO VOTE.  It's sort of like voting for president.   Should be looked on as a privilege and not a problem.   It only cost you a little time.
Report by Steve Long ago Unknown
Yes, it is the Nielson Ratings... been around for Decades...They rate TV Shows & ask for your input to take back to the networks so they know who likes what.... (viewer demographics)If you are like me and HATE so called Reality TV..here is a chance to VOTE them out of existance by letting the Nielson People know you DONT WATCH THEM. When the networks & advertisers see that interest in certain programing is dropping, that is how shows get dropped... Got a show you like... want to keep it on the air?If they don't know people like a show it could go away...That is what Nielson is all about. If you're watching TV it only takes a minute or two of time to write down the channel numbers, the show name and make a couple x marks on the page. What else do you have to do during those commercial blitz?
Report by Gary Long ago Unknown
I don't mind if they call and ask occasionally, however you're incorrect about them only calling if you have previously given the number out or done surveys. The number they call is our house phone. We NEVER use it and have never, ever given it out for anything or to anyone. It's basically a backup phone just in case. They really do choose completely random numbers, because we've also never done a survey for them before.

Now that I know its Neilsen Ratings I will answer.  I have never had them call me before.  I have done a few surveys online and one in the mail for them and I have always been paid for them all. $5 is $5.  If they are calling you its because you have at some point done a survey for them in the past or signed up for a survey company.  I remember when I filled out the info for them it asked what I was willing to do, mail, email, or phone surveys.  Perhaps someone else signed up who had your phone number before you did, I know Wal-Mart auto center was calling me for some reason swearing I was someone else, finally figured out they had my number before me, and I have had this number for years!

This lady with an obvious BLACK ARROGANT attitude....called me several times..  She said I owed  $5200 to home depot....which I did owe several years ago.  She offered to settle the claim for $3500.00.I told her that this was reasonable ($3500) but that I would also require a minimum of 5 [removed:lang]--I only work with US Citizens -- to show up for 3 days work in cleaning up my 3 acre property.   She became upset and said I was a [removed:lang].....and I said,..why...are you a [removed:lang] as well....she screamed at me calling me a White b*****d...that is when I  told her that I was a [removed:lang] ....and she didn't know what to say..and hung up.

They left a message for me yesterday claiming to be from a radio station about a contest I might have won... Wish I had realized who they were before I deleted the message. I've had a bunch of hang ups from them in the past few weeks, but that's the only message.

Don't answer the phone when this number shows up on your caller ID.I receive an automated call from this number 215-526-2600, that left a voice mail.  The automated  message from Oxford Law requested verification of someone's name, then continued with the message, "that by staying on the line you were confirming you are the person they are trying to reach and that they were calling about a serious legal matter and to please call 877-543-6151."I checked on the internet to see if I could find out any information because the call made no sense to me.  I have no debt and am not involved in any legal action.  Below is the information I found out.  The Oxford Law, LLC or possibly also known as Thomas Landis, Esq. is a collection agency.  Thank you everyone that posted information on this potentially bogus and harrassing collection call center.  Apparently once you answer, even if you tell them that you are not the person that they are trying to reach, the aggressive, rude and harrassing calls start.215 area code is SE Pa.2155262600 is currently Oxford Law, LLCDate: 8/18/2011 Business Entity Filing HistoryBusiness Name History;Oxford Law, LLC Current NameSeiler & Associates, LLC Prior NameLimited Liability Company - Foreign - InformationEntity Number: 4008531Status: Active Entity Creation Date: 1/19/2011State of Business.: MNRegistered Office Address: 1210 Northbrook DrTrevose PA 19048Mailing Address: No AddressAll information taken directly off the Pennsylvania Corporation Commission's website. The parent organization is in Minnesota, information follows from the Minnesota Corporation CommissionFiling Number: 801071-2 Entity Type: Limited Liability Company Original Date of Filing: 2/24/2004 Entity Status: Active Entity Date to Expire: Chapter: 319B (Professional) Good Standing:(date of last annual filing) 2011 Name: Oxford Law, LLC Registered Office Address: 7900 Highway 7 #350Mpls, MN, 55426 Home State: MNAgent Name: No Agent FiledCaller: Oxford Law, LLCCall Type: Debt Collector

Left 3 voice mail messages on my cell about saving money on my energy bill but did not give a company name.  I have gotten similar calls from at least 2 other numbers in the past three weeks despite my being logged on the "Do Not Call Registry".  Did a reverse phone look up and the number is an unpublished land line in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  Calls from the previous 2 numbers stopped within 48 hours of my filing a complaint against the phone number on the Do Not Call Registry site.  Will do the same with this one.
