704-200-9937 popped up on my landline caller ID at 10:10 AM on 12-12-2012. I answered the phone, and the pleasant female voice on the other end said her name was ,"Michelle". Michelle said she was,"... ..calling me in regards to my 2004 Dodge ram pickup truck vehicle warranty expiring, and would I be interested in extending my coverage"? I chuckled, and said to Michelle, "I can't believe you all are calling me about that, Please take me off of your call list". Michelle proceeded to call me a "d*ck", than hung up on me. I am trying to find out what company she represents so I can file a proper BBB complaint.Read more at http://www.callercenter.com/704-200-9937.html#KxAqx5MZyQuKEBC0.99

I have received the same calls and unfortunelty paid unaware that this was a scam.  I do owe a payday loan and thought this was the company they turned it over too.  I wish I had found this info before paying anything.  I will be contacting law enforcement immediately regarding this issue.

13 Report Long ago Unknown
I represented a client in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.  I was able to identify the debtor's payday loan creditors and scheduled all of them in the case.  Today the debtor received a telephone call from 518-250-2510, from a fellow giving his name as Larry.  The debtor provided him with my name and number, identified me as counsel, and told him to call me.  He insisted that he had an affidavit, although he did not tell the debtor what this meant, and that he knew the debtor's bank and bank account number, although the name of the bank he provided was a predecessor of the debtor's present bank.  I telephoned the number at my client's request.  I spoke with two persons, one of whom did not give his name, and the other gave his name as "Ricky Nunez."  He said, after long pauses, that he represented a law firm.  I asked for its name.  Again, after long pauses, he identified it as "Hudson."  I asked for the full name of his firm and its address.  He began saying that he was too busy to talk to me.  I replied that he had not been too busy to telephone my client about a debt discharged in bankruptcy and that he had enough time to speak to me.  Then he hung up.  Immediately afterwards, they again called my client, now claiming to represent the Alan Matkin law firm.  I advised my client that it was a scam, told my client to attempt to have her cellphone server block all calls from this number, and advised my client to go to the bank's branch to ensure that no transfers were made from her account by these people. It's fascinating that Verizon allows such calls to go through their system, even though they must be aware by now that this number is being used by scammers.  Perhaps some lawyer who specializes in public interest law may develop a cause of action against the telephone companies.

Caller stated his name was Rick with Allen Matkin Law Firm.  Continues to call place of work excessively.  States he is calling regarding a situation in which I "fraudulently used my personal information".  He also states this is relating to a payday loan (which I did not obtain) and has the names of my family and friends.  This same man also called several months ago to my place of employment and continuously harrassed the receptionist, calling her names and demanding to speak with me over and over only allowing a few seconds between each call.  He disappeared for a couple of months, only to call again yesterday and leave a voicemail in my box asking me to call him back saying he was an "office of the law".

My fiance and her sister keep receiving calls from this number from a man named Ricky. He keeps stating to them that he is calling in regards to a legal matter about an unpaid loan and if the issue is not taken care of I will be arrested. I have no outstanding loans though and have never even heard of the company.

From Lamet's post:If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=enIf these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-771-9249   Scammer posting here as GARY and GARRY JONEShttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-860-4509   Scammer posting here as Mike Hendersonhttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-212-500-0839   Scammer posting here as Rickyhttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-201-244-7722   Scammer posting as Carole, David Brown and Amandahttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-626-200-4646   Scammer false postings at this new number as silshan kanniue and Tina – preparing a new number to use.http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-424-354-4270   Scammer false postings as Rosehttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-785-4479   Scammer posting as Roberthttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-909-327-4870   Scammer false postings as Marryhttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-646-274-1143   Scammer false postings as Karen Miller, Chichi and Tom Littlehttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-561-300-8018   Scammer false postings as Marco Polo (real original)http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-877-226-7488   Scammer false postings as SAM, David Shttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-706-7463   Scammer false postings as Georgehttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-209-349-7382   Scammer false postings as Towanda Robinson, Shannon Walsh, Jack Dawson and Cynthiahttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-760-514-0132   scammer false postings as Suzy01, Johanna Hall, Cindie McMellon, Michael Dublin, Mark Williams, Carol and Rio   (800notes removed some of the scammers posts because the all came from the SAME IP ADDRESS)http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-209-797-2212   scammer false posting as Jaison Connarhttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-707-401-4056   Scammer false posting as John Carner, KSRhttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-650-241-4604   Scammer false postings as jhon and Kevinhttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-708-401-0535   Scammer false posting here as JHONhttp://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-518-212-0219  Scammer false posting************************************************************************************************************************Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scamJanuary 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors. When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are “spoofed” numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer’s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States. When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer’s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer’s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as “We’re filing an affidavit against you” or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General’s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee’s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an “officer. “I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ‘If that’s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming’,” stated the employee.“It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,” Attorney General Six said. “If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.”Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer’s arrest, or using the threat of violence.More information is available on the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf. My sis received a call on her cell this morning from a "so called" fraud investigator (Roger Black) wanting info. about me, when she asked what this was about, he said he could not talk to her about it, as this was an ongoing "investigation" on me for fraud. She wrote down his name and #  and told me I should call him back, as he sounded legitimate. Knowing that I have never committed fraud, I called the # back and asked to talk to Roger Black, the man hesitated for a minute, then asked me what my phone # was, I replied that my sister had gave me a message to call this #. He asked me if my sister's name was  E*** **** (he stated her full name) I said yes, he then stated my full name, and asked if that was me. When I told him yes, he stated that he was "Mr. Anderson" and said he was recording the phone call, and proceeded to give me a case # (that just happened to start with the same letters as his "badge" # ( CFI )), and told me I was under investigation for Fraud. He then stated my S.S.# and said he has a freeze on it, until I settled this matter with an immediate payment of $460.00, or gave him a C.C. # that he could charge w/i 15 for $715.00. I don't have Great credit, but I was immediately upset and told him that I have NEVER committed fraud, and that i thought what he was doing was the crime, as I have not even had a fair trial! He replied that he was trying to settle this matter out of court, as he did not want to have to put me through a court case, as the conversation continued, he was getting more and more upset w/ me as I was proclaiming my innocence, and was telling him that what he was doing was fraud and harassment, and that by law, he could not do ANYTHING to me until I was actually convicted of fraud in a court of law (it just didn't make since to me). He tried to convince me that that if i did not give him a C.C.# today, he could not help me, and the freeze on my S.S.# would stay, and that I could be picked up at anytime and taken to jail for 45 days. I told him I don't have a c.c. and I don't have any $, so send me the paperwork for court. He then said, in a very upset tone, that I was just making excuses and didn't want to pay a debt that I owed. (He just KNEW there was SOMEONE I could get the money from if I REALLY wanted to take care of this matter) I told him to send me the paperwork, and I would see his A** in court, and I hung up. I am very upset that he has my personal info. and would like to know how he got it! I would also LOVE to see this FRAUD go to jail!

They say that you have charges filled in your name and need to call them back, they have called me several times and each VM call gets angrier and angrier! The last VM they left so far told me to have my attorney call them, you can tell they are calling from a call center of some sort due to the background noise when they are talking. Same thing has been happening to me for 2 days now. This man has a heavy Middle Eastern accent and he curses at me repeatedly and says that he "will call me 1000 times if he feels like it". I have recorded all of the voicemails that I've received from this number. I am hoping to record enough calls where I can then contact my local police, because I this point I'm all out of ideas. Almost immediately after getting a message from 303-500-0409, I then get a call from 954-606-0762. An internet search shows this number is from Miami, Fl. I'm so confused.

I need to figure out how to get them to stop. I've blocked them on my verizon online account, but they call from different numbers as well, saying that their old number can't get through to me. Last time I actually answered they told me "You better hide, becuase if I come find you, you'll regret not paying, and You'll be DEAD"

this is another scam.  supposedly a lien against my social security number.  not true.  doesn't make sense and they've been calling from one phone number or another for several years to me.  always a thick accent.used to always be a law office.  I'm always up to date on my credit reports and these people need to be reported.  they say they are a law and investigation company.  all a scam.

We are back to the old donate to the fraternal order of police scam again.  Why don't these people think of something new?  This scam is at least 40 years old.
