I got a call at work, home and a virtual # from QLS (the company supposedly serving me) advising there was a failed attempt to serve me and to call Jordan Associates in Cali at 714-794-2686. I called and spoke with him and he verified my SSN. He explained that I "took" out a loan from Ace Cash Express for $350 in 2007 and that I now owe $2588 + not incl attorney's fees and court costs. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about and to send me proof. He rerouted me to Assured Client Services at 562-295-6415 and they said they don't need proof, just some special affidavit (I forgot the name) in order to take me to court. They told me to Google Ace and I did. I called them directly, they couldn't find me in their system (spoke to 3 diff reps before getting the legal dept) and they told me they've been getting a lot of scam info just like this. I'm getting proof from Ace that I have never taken a loan out with them. Whatever you do, don't even verify your social to JA and ACS!

I to keep getting these phone calls at work trying to scare me. They are threatening to send me to jail and court. The caller name is William from Jordans and Associates. I have files a complaint also with the FTC. What else is needed to do?

I recieved a few calls from this number. I called back and spoke with Gregory Burch (spelling?) from Jordan and Associates, a law firm. Rattled off case numbers and something about serving papers. Really? You dont tell someone you are gong to serve papers.  I am not going to go into detail about everything, but based on my research I cannot find a Jordan and Associates in California. This entire thing is a scam. I have yet to call California Bar and find out more. Reverse phone does not turn anything up. I have reported them to the FTC. I do have a fax number I was supposed to fax something to, but it belongs to Assured Client Services. That website is ran off of Blogger.com. I got the contact number as 866-876-6313 and fax number as 714-735-9452. I called contact number and got a recording of a person that sounds exactly the same as the Jordan and associates recording. They messed with the wrong person here. I will be notifying any authority I can and might even mess with them a little. Try to scare me....and I will gladly reciprocate. Join me in ruinng thier lives just as they tried with ours!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize; refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number; asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency. If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you. Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing. Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name. Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt. Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.> http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt076.shtm

Same thing from Jordan and Associates, QSS attempt to collect a debt.  They were threatening arrest, which is illegal.     From the Federal Trade Commisionhttp://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtmDebt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:     you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;     they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law                   to take the action and intend to do so; or     legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take     the action.

I too received a call from this company (AmerAssist  ARSolutions), but I've managed to get rid of them without breaking a sweat.I have a disconnected sound wave recorded on my answering machine, so any of the telemarketing, debt collection, credit card services etc. who calls and hears this pre-recorded tone, instantly believes they have a disconnected number.

Three times I have answered the phone to hear a recording which states " Call (a local number, which I cannot write down as I did not expect to have to write a number down which is called out so fast, without warning) as soon as possible in order to find out what your options are."The number is stated so quickly and only one time, so you could not even pick up a pen in front of you and write it down correctly before they are done with the sentence. This is very annoying to me.  At least give you the chance to hear the phone number again so you can write it down."  The caller ID says "Out of Area", but the number is a local area code.

Me and my wife both missed the calls no VM left. My 8 year old daughter received the call from the same number and when she answered it a guy named Joseph introduced himself and she hung up. I called the number back and all i got was the number had been changed or disconnected.

I recieved a call from this number this morning though i did not answer. When calling back it tells me the number is not in service. I assume (based on these comments) that the numberwas  officially removed from whatever company it was associated with and is now being used as a ussid dialer attack number (for more information On dialer attacks, google is your friend) so i would highly suggest to anyone using an android to do a factory reset and if you are rooted run a restore after deleting all information. If your phone is not vulnerable to these attacks (like the samsung galaxy exhibit series) you need not worry. Or im paranoid. None the less better to be safe.

Just got a call on my cell from this number, again it was WN Positions or something as with the other posts, but this time wanting to talk about an online survey I'd completed.  I haven't done any surveys and I haven't given out my cell number to anyone but friends and coworkers, so I have no idea what these idiots want.  I'll let the FTC handle it.

A male voice recording.Called me, did not leave a VM.When I called back the recording said it was for W/N Positions, i believe, and asked a series of basic questions, no personal information or name even which was alarming, and said a Rep would evaluate the answers and call within 48 hours.I called the number back again, same recording saying they were responding to my recent employment search. I pressed 9 to have my phone number removed, and also added it to the reject list on my phone.

They called and did not leave a VM. When I called the line back, a recording said they are WN Positions, and that they called because I recently started a job search. I've never applied for any employment through WN Positions.A Google search shows a lot of shady info on the company. Looks like they get their numbers through bandwidth.com, so I'll be complaining to both the FTC and that company.
