A guy with this number is now trolling around on dating websites like Match.com. Pretty sure he hijacked some guys facebook page. Total haitian accent, and yet the guy on FB is a white soldier. I would let this soldier know, but then my info goes up and I have no idea how much access this scammer has to this guys FB page. Don't need the creep to know anything more about me than he already does. Reported it to the dating website. All I can say is it sounded fishy and thank God this page exists and now I know that trusting my gut is a good thing. Anyone have an idea on how to let this guy n FB know that his profile is being used without divulging my FB info let me know...

He said I wasn't going to be involved with anything and I insisted that he take me off the list.. I hung up. He called back and he asked "if I liked to suck D**k.. My boyfriend in turn took the phone and they haven't called back. They called me by my name on the first call.. I called a friend that is a police officer before looking up the number online.. I hope he is able to help find out more.. This is ridiculous..

Thank you so much, they have been calling me weekly, stuff like this is so helpful.  I was so scared at first, I have turned them into the State of New York Investigation, the Federal Trade Commission, my local police and my local DA consumer fraud, it sounds like no one is really doing anything about it. They called my work  today after being told not to and I know that once you tell them no to they cannot but left a message and said they were Steve Brown with State of New York Investigationg Dept. I am at the end of my rope with this.

For at least the last four years, possibly longer, a group has been calling former payday loan applicants advising them that they have defrauded a bank and are now being sued for non-payment of a loan.  The callers will claim to be calling on behalf of an attorney's office (name varies), the Dept. of Law and Investigation, ACS, or other similar combinations below:United Legal Processing DivisionMidline MarketingCrime Monitoring ServicesMonetary Crime DivisionU.S. National Bank Attorney General’s Office (usually in California)American Legal ServicesAffidavit Consolidation Services (ACS)You will be threatened with arrest, a costly trial and possibly worse.  In no shape, way or form can you be arrested for non-payment on a consumer debt.  Do not believe these threats, as they are without merit and cannot be carried out in the manner they allege.  Who are they? In the past when pressed by law enforcement for an address, the callers have provided the following information:David Morgan and AssociatesMorgan & AssociatesMorgan Associates954-727-8481 1155 Northwest 85th Street Wintergarden, Florida  33150 (Address is likely invalid)The collector's MO matches a once legit collections agency called Ellis Crosby & Associates.  Here are some links on them:http://www.budhibbs.com/collectorpages/ellis_crosby_and_associates.htmhttp://www.budhibbs.com/collectorpages/EllisCrosbyJudgment.pdfThey have been previously fined over $1.3 million for various violations.  They have been known to use phone banks in India to make their calls, which more or less coincides with the difficult to understand accent many of us detect when we are contacted.   The last time this group went by any "official" name was back in 2008:Ellis Crosby & Associates / Douglas & Morgan Associates4494 Southside Boulevard Suite #200Jacksonville Florida 32216Phone:  800-928-3536 / (904) 928-3536(Address is likely invalid)There are NUMEROUS consumer alerts out against this group of individuals:Florida:http://jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/061107/met_176207561.shtmlKansas:  http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2010/01/ks_debt_collection.htmlColorado:  http://www.coloradoattorneygeneral.gov/press/ ... lls_likely_origRhode Island:  http://www.collectionscreditrisk.com/news/rho ... -3002135-1.htmlWest Virginia:http://www.wvago.gov/internetloanscam.cfmMissouri:On July 15th, 2010 a Public Awareness Bulletin was sent out by Missouri Information Analysis Center.  "..received reports from individuals in Ohio and Illinois reference suspicious telephone calls they received. In both instances, the callers are reporting that a voicemail is received from a man, with a Middle Eastern accent, identifying himself as an officer working with the Financial Crimes Unit.  The message indicates that the reason for the call concerns a loan made by the receiver or someone in the receiver's family. The voicemail requests that a return call be made and a telephone number is provided. When a return call is made, the caller is asked to provide personal identifying information such as their date of birth and social security number.Reports indicate that the calls are frequent and persistent and that they even threaten arrest or legal action if information or money is not provided. It appears that the individuals making these calls may have access to some records connecting individuals and their relatives.  Missouri does not have a Financial Crimes Unit and all indications are that this is a fictitious agency. If you receive a similar phone call, please be advised that it is a scam and please contact your local law enforcement agency or the Missouri Information Analysis Center at 866-362-6422."Bottom line:Do not supply the callers with any additional information.  Inform them you have reported them to law enforcement and hang up.  If you haven't already, go ahead and report the calls to local law enforcement, your state's Attorney General and beyond.  Look up the local Secret Service branch's information in your area and get in contact with an agent there.  If you ever applied for a cash advance online, your information is out there.   Possible sources for the breach of your privacy are:* The scammers obtained your information from Teletrack - a reporting agency used by many cash advance lenders to determine their risk lending to you.  The service is able to tell cash advance lenders if you have existing loans with other companies, for example.  Many state laws prohibit borrowers from having more than two cash advances out at the same time. * The scammers created their own fake payday loan application site.  People looking for a cash advance went to the site and applied, thus freely providing the scammers with their information for malicious use at a later time.  * The scammers were able to get into the database(s) of cash advance lenders - probable targets being Sonic Payday and Cashnet USA.   How to protect yourself:* Inform your employer.  You are likely getting calls at home and/or at work, so make sure your employer is aware the calls are part of a scam and to not take them seriously.  Advise the callers that they are no longer allowed to call you at work.  If they continue to call, document the date and time of the calls you received.  Save voice mails left if at all possible.  * Change your number(s).  For some this may not be an option, for others a one-time number change can be done free of charge.Be advised - any references you listed on your payday loan application will be contacted.  Let those people know that this is a scam, and they can disregard. * Use Google Voice.  Google Voice is a great replacement voice mail system for just about any phone number you use.  Messages can be transcribed and voice mail recordings can be saved as mp3 files.  Pro Tip - call the scammers with a Google Voice number before turning off your old phone numbers.  Make sure when you call you identify yourself so they can start up their script.  At any point after they have your information pulled up just hang up.  They will then start religiously calling your Google Voice number.  At this point, you are free to change your regular phone number(s) and enjoy not having these people ever call you again.  (And laugh at the fact these people are basically talking to a brick wall several times a day)The scammers change their numbers frequently.  Law enforcement used to think it was because the callers ran out of minutes on their prepaid wireless accounts or they were shuttered due to fraud, but now they understand it's simply to evade detection by savvy consumers online.  With the proliferation of VoIP, it's even easier for the crooks to stay a couple of steps ahead of law enforcement.  Below is just a sampling of the 30+ numbers that have been used in recent memory.1-201-244-77221-209-349-73821-209-797-22121-212-500-08391-213-256-04081-213-995-30391-281-763-04331-347-289-39021-347-844-68171-347-844-68311-424-354-42701-516-232-89051-516-232-89351-518-212-02191-561-300-80181-561-210-41851-626-200-46461-631-456-40411-646-274-11431-646-810-86351-650-241-46041-707-401-40561-707-633-27891-708-401-05351-716-442-28241-717-862-40801-718-705-86691-760-514-01321-760-563-53841-772-318-49381-850-201-11111-858-777-19771-859-908-22811-866-860-45091-877-226-74881-888-706-74631-888-771-92491-888-785-44791-909-327-4870So can they really do anything to you? It's not a simple yes or no answer.  Logic dictates that, if they really wanted to take you for a ride and drain your bank accounts, they already would have.  So, why haven't they?  Authorization.  Why do you think you are being called so much?  Perhaps it is because they like the sound of your voice?  No, they have to have your authorization to take any form of payment from you, period.  The callers know their audience, and that audience is typically a bunch of people that have applied for payday loans in the past.  Most of those people they call couldn't afford an attorney if they wanted one, and are so used to receiving collections calls that so long as they sound like a real collector, they will likely be perceived as one.Furthermore, they don't even really want to talk to your attorney - that just sounds official and scary enough.  A real attorney would take the callers to task and write them off as two-bit con artists.  The callers need you, in writing, to authorize payment against the fictitious debt they claim you owe.  Go ahead, ask them for proof you owe the debt - more commonly known as verification of debt.  See what they say.  A phone authorization carries very little weight, so if they have something signed by you on file, you are done for - and the callers know that.  That authorization is the only thing these callers are doing by the book, and for good reason.  If they just went all willy nilly and made an ACH debit from your checking account, without your written approval, you could in turn report the transaction as fraudulent to your financial institution.  In about 7-10 business days, you would get the funds returned to your account.  Then the scammers would be up against a bank and their team of lawyers and investigators.  Bottom line:If you haven't paid the callers a dime, don't.  If you planned on paying them to shut them up, just don't.  Remember - you are not being contacted by a legally licensed, ethically owned and operated collector.  Read up on the FDCPA - http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf - and know your rights.http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-646-274-1143/3

I have these people calling me saying that they are calling from ACS and that I need to resolve the matter quickly. I can barely understand them and one of the names they are currently using is Shane Wilson. They use to call me at my old job every 6 months. I did put a Fraud Alert on my credit report because there was an address on there that I never lived at and with these people knowing every detail of me I got scared. I was laid off back in October 2009, and went back to work in August 2010. The calls have no started again and only this time it's at my new job. UGH!!! I know they are checking my credit report, how do I stop them? It's embarrassing at my place of employment and they need to stop calling me. HELP!!!

These guys and total fake when I checked with the Attorney Generals office in New York this revealed that they are praying on innocence people.  Their threats are to scare people and the information is bogus and was illegally obtain through hacking into a "Pay Day Loan" site. They do have some information about you but it is out of date.  They do call people that you have listed as references.  This is the reason that you must report them.  They will tell you that they have paper work that proves you owe money and again this is all an empty threat. To obtain any judgement or have anything placed on your record it must go through the courts.   This is where their little scam blows up as there is nothing that they can produce that comes from the court system.  Remember that if they send you something it is a document that they made up and a call to the Clerk of the Court (look up the number yourself do not use a number they give you) will show the documents as fakes. If they call, you must report them immediately to both the State that you are in and to New York, where they claim to be the "New York Investigation."

After reading all the answers here, I decided to put them on my reject list on my cell phone.  I just choose not to be bothered with pests. Those of you with cell phones can do the same.  It is impolite to force someone to participate in a survey they don't want to participate. I just think they want to rape you of your rights not to participate in helping them to reach their misleading tactics. When I was younger and foolish, I was mislead by someone who was aiming to use me so they could make money and take it to another country. Thank God he opened my eyes and I was able to save my children from being kidnaped even though I had to spend 10 days in jail to prevent him from taking them to another country.  He even tried and still trying to turn my children and the whole community against me because he was not able to reach his goal. According to his ex-wife, she told me he uses his Catholic radio program to spread his hatred towards me. When someone is using misleading tactics to use you, just turn around and go the other way, even though some people never stop trying to use your children against you.  Advice from Mom and have a great life.

This is very good information.  However, by your company telling us exactly what the American public should say to be removed from any of these solicitation schemes is a problem.  If I ask your company to be removed from their call list in ANY way and form of speech, the company should comply.  In the first place, we did not ask you to call us---We did not ask you to obtain our phone numbers.  Therefore, why should we comply to your requests and the methods dictated by your company to be removed from your solicitation methods?  In addition certain states have laws against solicitation and I am surprised that your company does not perform this research first before even considering using random number dialer software.  Personally I feel that more strict laws must be created to make these kinds of calls illegal.

you are right it is misleading to a certain point, if they were to tell you exactly what the survey is about, than chances are more people would lose curiosity  and hang up. The words " we're interested in learning more about people with cell phones" (laughing as I still remember the intro) is indeed misleading, making people believe it's a survey about cell phone usage. On the other hand I can say it's structured that way to present it self as an "innocent package" suggesting that the study will pertain to certain aspects of that nature, but in reality is limited to the actual body of the questionnaire.  If they were to tell you that it had to do with politics, would you really want to take the time make up your mind and takes sides with whatever questions are asked, I don't think so and quite frankly I wouldn't want to get into a political study even if it was" unbiased". As far as the lateness of the call, I can tell you that "LEGALLY" we are permitted to call until 9:25pm in all 6 time zones. In some very desperate times grey areas may present themselves and a decision can be made to call a tad bit later that that.

I don't know about all of that, but I'll take your word for it, since you say you have done this for a period of time. I was called on Sunday night at 9;45 pm. I was tired. The female rep sounded pretty pathetic reading her script, but it sounded innocent enough to participate. She told me this was a survey of cell phone usage. After her intro and collection of general stats, she launched into a questionnaire of today's political debates and how knowledgeable I was on particular topics. It seemed okay, but I later perceived a particular leaning to the way the line of questioning was going. At a certain point, I didn't feel like answering any more questions, and hung up on her. She tried to call back, but I did not answer. A couple of thing, what did political questioning have to do with cell phone usage? She did not tell me how long this survey would take. I felt the call was misleading. If I am called again, I will use your advice. Thank you for the post.

The compnay that is calling you is Princeton Survey Resarch. And yes you can expect to get calls on the weekends. How I know this? I used to work at their only call center in Stafford VA. If you are on the Do not call list, then you should know that it does NOT apply to surveys and charities. Your number was randomly generated in their auto dialer system. The software recognizes the first 6 digits of a certain area in the country and the last four are randomly spawned. so they end up calling businesses too. Same goes with cell phones. If you haven't already asked to be taken off their List, follow these steps, 1. Do NOT interrupt the interviewer during their intro, wait until they are finished speaking. 2. Say these exact words.."PLEASE DO NOT EVER CALL MY CELL PHONE AGAIN" or Land line,  but say it politely.3. We were trained to here these words, no matter how much you fuss and throw a hissy fit, if you do not utter these EXACT words verbatim, we will probably still end up calling you. The Interviewer is also required to convince you other wise, in an attempt to get you to do their survey anyway even if you already did step 2. This is called AIM. They will say something along the lines of " well sir/mam this is a very important study and we would greatly appreciate your cooperation  in this study today" ect. decline POLITELY again and say in a very nice tone," I appreciate you calling me I really do, but I would rather not participate, I understand you are doing your job, I just don't want to be bothered anymore, therefore i would liked to be placed on your DNC list." do NOT hang up after you say this, that will only make things worse, let THEM have the final word. ALWAYS say thank you have a good evening/day and make sure it was a proper goodbye BEFORE you hang up. Make sure that they acknowledged that you wanted to be put on the do not call list. I have worked for this company for several years. I know the frustration you guys go sometime being called 3 times a day for a week. But the reality of the situation is that these surveys actually do help policy makers make decisions based on the information they receive from companies such as this one.

I simply emailed the company ('research@princetondatasource.com') and ask them how I get on their do-not-call list.  They asked me to send them my phone number and later replied with confirmation that I was removed from their current calling list and placed on their do-not-call list.

I have gotten calls from this number (540)898-8818,"FREDERICKSBURG, VA" every evening INCLUDING Saturdays AND Sundays the past two weeks. They are worse than summertime mosquitoes here in the South!  !#*#&!!! Tried to see who they were with 'Reverse Lookup' on Google, so cud report them to FTC but even though the sites say "FREE" reverse lookup, you have to pay to get any info.

I told caller I don't want to participate in their survey. He insisted on it. I asked for our number to be added to their DoNotCall list, and he said he will call later?!?!
