You all might want to make sure who it is. I have NO dealings with Walgreens whatsoever, why would they be calling me from halfway across the country to remind me to refill prescriptions?  This is a perfect way to get information out of you.  Be careful!  To get automatic refills you need to sign up for them either at the pharmacy or on your online account.

You are correct. I called back the number since I missed the call, and it said "Thanks for calling Wal-greens reminder service", before I hung up. I am leary about such numbers, but after reading your statement here I tried it myself. Of course no big corporation will know all numbers from every state, and right up front they will tell you it is not theres' due to they do not want to thought of as someone harrassing them with phone calls. All you have to do is call back the number, AS I DID, and it does say wal-greens...sorry anyone not believing here, if you think it's a harrassing phone call, then you have already put your mind to what it is. If it is someone harrassing you, you do have several options too. Call the police make a report, call the phone company make a report, block the number if you can, or even call the number back to see who it is...I would hate to think that someone was after me and a lot of things were scams..

Who are you? a scammer?
Report by Get a Grip Long ago Unknown
Maybe you've been scammed alot, most people have been scammed at least twice in their lives to varying degrees.  This IS Walgreens, it is a service, not a scam.  I just refilled my prescription that I am due to run out of soon (water retention during humid weather, no big deal, no street value type of medicine) using this automated service.  Yes, I had to enter my date of birth, but how did this recorded / automated voice know my first name and then asked for my date of birth to verify that I am me?  Does this 'scam app' just pull the correct, your correct, first name out of the air? After the verification, I was told that it was almost time to refill my prescription for (long funny sounding medical name), I entered the appropriate number to have this refilled for me.  Then, WOW!!!, this automated voice stated the Walgreens name AND the exact address of the Walgreens that I always use for my prescriptions.  Exact Address!  Now, realizing that computer/android/anytype of programming is ONLY as 'smart' as the person who programmed the code... I highly, let me restate that... I HIGHLY DOUBT that anyone who has in their 'information data base' my first name, date of birth and my phone number can get any deeply personal information.  They cannot get my SSN, my driver's license number, my mother's maiden name or the numbers off of my credit card or security number from the back of same said card. These are the items of information that one should NEVER give out over the phone or in public.  My husband declined to give the department of motor vehicles his SSN and he still received his license, albeit with an odd expression on the person who processed his forms when we moved to a another state.  More information is 'at risk' for stealing if you participate in online social networking media via computer or phone app.  A birth date, first name and phone number from Walgreens is not your threat.
Report by Chopin Long ago Unknown
Maybe soundbytes might be a good idea on this site? Since reporting a number to be legit doesn't mean a thing if it's used by someone with something as simple as the android apps out there allowing you to refect ANY phone number as your caller ID that you wish, then having a recording of the actual REAL call posted may help. Yeah, I'm sure someone could go as far as to dupe the voice too but having a sound byte attachment would greatly cut down the fraud... I would bet it would be at least as effective as this site is for posting legitimate numbers.
Report by Chopin Long ago Unknown
Good point. Just got the call. Pressed one to confirm it was me. Then when asked to enter my date of birth, hung up. Wasn't particularly taking the posturing that this was a scam, however: I can call any of you, should I have your phone number and have (402) 220-1100 show up on your caller ID. There are so many Android programs that do this. SPOOF PRO is one of them. I did it as a gag to a friend, as we play jokes on each other, I think it was the "we have reason to believe you may have been in sexual contant with someone who has contracted a serius sexually transmitted disease" or something like that. I used the number to a very well known place owned by,..well you get the point. He called me up and was freaking out saying what had happened and who he thought it was, calling this girl every name in the book, until I couldn't contain myself and lost it laughing and told him, taking him out of his misery. My POINT is that it is UNWISE to submit any personal information to ANY automated service that you are NOT AWARE of. The "out of state comments" have NO MERIT. Almost every fortune 500 and thousands more use certain locations for these types of calls etc. It's a cost approach economical decision. To have a auto dialer located in each city across the nation, lol... However you can have an auto dialer reflect the area code of the person's city but there are legal implication on that with the Corporation Commissions of each state and Federal Trade Commission on a federal level. I believe it's because it's something that presents a false sense of location under pretenses that would be considered unethical business practice. Let's shift gears again and visit another point. How many times have you called an 800# or EVEN a local number and been transferred (often unkowingly) to a person with a heavy accent, such as your cell phone carrier? These are the ever growing outsourced calls to countries like India, Phillipines, etc. Again you may have dialed the prefix of (619) if you live in San Diego but routed to India. The problem is you CANNOT decipher whether a call from an unkown number and out of your calling area legitimate when you answer the phone for the first time to one of these types of calls. And you cannot decipher that it is Illegitimate either, not until you know....lol, sort of a paradox. My rule of thumb is that I NEVER offer any personal information to a computer that ID's itself as your bank, your pharmacy your anything. It's not an intelligent idea at all on Walgreens part assuming that it is legitimate because again RIGHT NOW I can call any of you and your caller ID will reflect that number because I put it in there. That's available to ANYONE who uses ANDROID....JUST IMAGINE! It's a great service I'm sure for those who don't write there schedules down, keep a daily log, appointment book, use their phone to remind them, their computer or ANYTHING WHATSOEVER to remind them of a refill.... Yeah great service. But it's missing a huge number of people who think about identity theft. I am NOT talking about the area code. I'm talking about a computer asking for your information. YOU CANNOT ASK IT ANY QUESTIONS, CAN YOU? YOU CAN ONLY HAVE BLIND FAITH AND GIVE IT YOUR PERSONAL INFO. BAD BAD IDEA WALGREENS. Even banks put out these emails/memo's telling you that they would not EVER ask you for you full social security number over the phone and other info too sometimes and inform you NEVER to answer to anyone asking for that because it would NOT be them. Walgreens should have media at the store on the wall advertising their reminder service at the very least. ........LOL but then again, I can be that computer and get your personal info very easily and so can any average person. IT'S A MONEY THING FOLKS. YOU INCUR HUGE COSTS TO HAVE REAL PEOPLE CALLING VS COMPUTERS. BUT YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE PERSONAL INFO TO COMP0UTERIZED SYSTEMS THAT CALL YOU..... PERIOD. IF I HAVEN'T MADE MYSELF CLEAR: LAST TIME: AGAIN, IT'S BECAUSE I CAN BECOME (402) 220-1100 IN ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND CALL YOU IF I HAVE YOUR NUMBER OR KNOW ANYONE'S NUMBER THAT USES WALGREENS PHARMACY. Learned that trick off Android Marketplace. Imagine someone with a motive. IF YOU CAN'T ASK QUESTIONS, DON'T GIVE ANSWERS.

What would anyone have to gain by impersenating Walgreens and leaving the message, "Hello this is Walgreens refill reminder service.  Your medications are ready to be refilled."  And that is the end of the message.  Unless there is some big conspiracy to trick me into refilling my blood pressure medicine, this is not a scam.  And they are correct as well!  I appreciate the service because it absolutely IS time for me to refill my medicine.  They don't ask for financial information.  They don't want a call back.  They are selling nothing.  This is a helpful service.  Back away from the pipe man.  THIS IS WALGREENS PRESCRIPTION REFILL REMINDER SERVICE.  And I appreciate the reminder!

Report by ken Long ago Unknown
take a look at their own website!  This number IS in the small print about the refill reminder service.  https://www.walgreens.com/topic/s/prescription-refill-reminders.jspNo wonder our law enforcement can't keep up with real crimes.  Be sure before doing and saying stupid things.
Report by Walgreens customer Long ago Unknown
It is Walgreens. I refill my prescription every month by answering this call.
Report by Bee Long ago Unknown

Report by dainks Long ago Unknown
Yes, it is Walgreens. Tinfoil hat is not required.
Report by Faye Long ago Unknown
I asked my local Walgreens about this.  They said do not give them any information.  They are not calling for them. Auto refill should only be done at the Walgreens where you have your prescriptions filled.
Report by JWG Long ago Unknown
https://www.walgreens.com/topic/s/prescription-refill-reminders.jspLook at the bottom of the page.  It says this: *Our refill reminder service now includes automated phone calls just a few days before your refill is due. Your call will come from either 402-220-1100 or 402-220-1106. Enter your date of birth to ensure your privacy and respond by choosing yes or no to refill. Your refills will be ready for you the following day at your local Walgreens, it's that easy. This free service is available to you if you have chosen to not receive email or text prescription refill reminders.NOT A SCAM!

Walgreens never calls on a 402 # - it's ALWAYS a local # and they ALWAYS leave a message. I believe it's a scam - they didn't leave a message, but sick of these F*cks
Report by Smarter than you Long ago Unknown

Report by STown Long ago Unknown
Yes, it is Walgreen's reminder service. A very nice service.
Report by Lin Long ago Unknown
It's a call to let you know your prescription is ready. Honest.
Report by taylor Long ago Unknown
Have received multiple messages of this type from this number and also a California area code... The temptation is to call and say "Why are you calling me" and they will try and get your name and they already have your phone number... Its a scam . In this day of identity theft they go to all extents to get information. Block the phone numbers as they come in... I have nothing to do with wallgreens yet multiple states have my prescription ready...SCAM  SCAM SCAM
Report by Scampatrol Long ago Unknown

How can you 'personally' insult an anonymous commenter. Besides the guy was probably goofing around. You really think he went to the FBI because wallgreens called.
Report by Jason Jaz Long ago Unknown
Personally I wouldn't take it as a personal insult however my 1st thought is didn't I see Howdy on Doomsday Preppers.  Seriously, turning it over to the FBI to follow-up on.  Sounds like something Howdy could've figured out with a little follow-up of his own but hey thats what the FBI is there for right??
Report by Rationalist Long ago Unknown
Are you naturally angry because people are suspicious about scams nowadays? Do you take it at a personal insult or something ? Why do you feel the need to tear someone down verbally on a message board ?

It absolutely is Walgreen's autofill.    This is a great convenience.  They ARE awesome.  Call it back and you'll see.   They ROCK
Report by Howdy 1 Long ago Unknown
THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM THROUGH AND THROUGH.  Don't get suckered in like some people do!  It IS NOT Walgreen calling.  I taped the call on a recorer took it to Walgreens and they knew nothing about such calls and denied it was they who made the call. They have no such phone number anywhere in the U.S. as shown in this scam!  I also turned it in to the FBI and other agencies to follow up on due the  scam it really is.
Report by Laura Long ago Unknown
It's actually Walgreens Refill Reminder Service, it's pretty awesome, they call when your perscription is just about out and they will refill automatically via phone.

I also received a check for 2,805.00 I just called and talked with someone and he wanted me to deposit the check in my account and keep 10% and send the rest of the money to a Diane MacDonald in Trinidad Co. I tried to look up the name but could get no more info. When I told him I was going to call the police and report him he then told me this person was his girlfriend and she was 17. Then he told me she was a dead person and he was just using her name. That is all I know, but I am going to take the check to the police tomorrow and give them this info. The bank told me it was a false signature on the check.  Please write back with any more information you may have. Did you go to the police where you are at?

Also FYI to all, federal law permits political agency, not for profits, and some other companies to continue calling you, even if you are registered on the do not call list.  Read the fine print.  You can block them with an ap as they call you, OR you can do whatever you can to waste their time.  Your choice.

202-480-3747

19 Report Long ago Unknown
I went through the entire call and could not get any information on WHO is behind the call. The call is for a political survey. I would like anyone reading this to do me, all of us actually, a huge favor. This will spoil their poll data if everyone is on board. Next time you get the call, answer it. As they ask questions always answer with number 1. You DO NOT NEED TO HEAR THE QUESTIONS. It's an anonymous survey. However, if the polling agency received piles and piles of #1 answers, the benefit is two-fold. 1) they have fouled data, and whatever politician or political group is behind it will have wasted the investment in resources. 2) now that you've answered, you can't be polled again. Voila! The calls stop. It took me less than a minute to fudge the survey and get on with life.
